Department of Network Engineering

Brief :

It is one of College of Engineering department, where it received students for the first time in
Academic year of 2102-2103, accrediting semester system in its curricula that cover specializations
of software and electronics in intercomputer communication field and its applications to keep pace
with the rapid developments in information technology
and telecommunications, which has become a landmark of many developed countries economics
and some developing countries
Computer networks are considered one of the modern and advanced sciences that have contributed
broadly and directly to technology development in all life applications, Information international
network considered as one of the most used applications at present time.
The department accepts the best students to be a base for high-level scientific staff where creativity
and innovation are available
The lectures were given by a group of competent professors with scientific titles in a manner
consistent with the rapid development situation that
It is witnessed by the country and the world in this field and the period of study in the department is
four years after the preparatory study / scientific branch is granted
The graduate, after completing the initial studies, has a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer
Network Engineering.

Vision :

The department aims to be a pioneer among all departments of computer network engineering
and information technology in Iraqi universities through preparing qualified engineers able to open
new scientific horizons, support scientific research movement, and provide applied technical
consultation in labor market to work on community service.

Message:

Preparing competent and entrepreneurial engineers capable of meeting needs of labor market,
government institutions and all sectors of science and technology (public, private and mixed) in
computer network engineering field, through updating curriculum ,encouraging students to be
creative and innovative, and strive to teach department students practical information that leads to
achieve fundamental changes in specialization field, consistent with adapting requirements of
renewable, changing and present labor market , and submit consulting, design and implementation
in computer network engineering and information technology field.

Goals :

1 – Graduating engineers with a high scientific level who possess understanding, knowledge and
psychological preparation that makes them capable on building systems in computer networks, analyzing
and developing then keep in touch after graduation through continuing communicate them with social
media and other channels to learn about serious challenges and required amount of change in curricula
to raise capabilities and face challenges.
2- Organizing seminars, holding scientific conferences and workshops with the rest of colleges inside and
outside country, governmental institutions in all public and private sectors to solve problems and develop
work of these institutions.
3 – Updating of academic curricula continuously to keep pace with scientific development in line with the
needs of labor market, through providing an appropriate environment for theoretical and practical
teaching using the latest tools and equipment, and adopting global quality measures and academic
accreditation.
4- Providing academic advice in computer engineering field in general and computer network engineering
and its applications in particular, in line with market need and requirements.
5. Raising scientific and executive level by adopting the correct method in the field of research and
building sober and precision research base.
6-Seeks to establish memoranda of understanding and relationships and relationships with international
research centers, whether independent or existing in local and foreign universities to keep student and
teaching staff scientific level alike.
7 – Opening graduate studies in the department to develop, support and motivate the affiliates of
department to supervise and supplement higher centers with higher degrees and academic titles, in
addition to creating a spirit of competition and opening broad horizons for department’s teaching staff to
develop their scientific and practical knowledge through reviewing graduate students’ projects in masters
and doctorates.
8- Keeping to Integrate with the rest of computer and electrical engineering departments to overcome lack
of required skills and create integrated work team and implement multidisciplinary projects.
